netbios provides  inputs / outputs to support application client /server in a network.from the view of architectural,netbios defines two of the following:

mechanism interprocess communication (IPC) or application programming interface API that allows applications that support netbios to communicate remotely trough the network and the demand for services from the lower levels
of the protocol stack .

a protocol that operates at the transport layer and sessions layer in the OSI seven layer reference model that allows fucntions such as session creation and destruction, as well as the netbios name registration, renewal netbios name and netbios name resolution.
